Lesson 4
This week's lesson was in very much similar to last week's. Our topic was all about Cascading Style Sheets(CSS). Basically, lesson 3 was like the foundation where we learnt how to build a webpage while lesson 4 was on how to decorate a webpage, which in my opinion is a very good way to teach as people would need to know what and how a webpage is made before even knowing anything more than that.
Similar to last week, we were given worksheets and another challenge to complete. However, this week our worksheets were already done for us by Mr Cheong, and I am very grateful to his efforts as it made our jobs much easier. Referring to the answers that he provided and the websites given, we soon grasped the idea of how to use CSS.
There are two ways we can use CSS, internal and external. Internal is like typing in the code itself together with the HTML, while external is like creating two files and linking them together. If you ask for my opinion, I certainly prefer external as it allows flexibility to the amount of pages I can link it to.
CSS is a very important aspect to creating a good website. Imagine a website that is just filled with words and a white blackground, with all its text being default, aligned to the left. Nobody would want to spend more than a minute looking at the website unless it is truly important. I take CSS as a way to help captivate your audience attention and at the same time making your website look more attractive. After all, the first thing people look for in a website when they just arrived is how beautifully it is designed.
My group and I then proceeded to complete the challenge. For me and my teammates, this was a very easy task. Even so, we still listened to what we each other had to say, and teamwork made the task even easier! Just like the challenge for the previous lesson on HTML, we have yet overcomed another one, and is another stepstone nearer to our Infocomm Career, that is if we do want to be a part of it of course.
The main reason why people also use CSS is it can be used to tidy the webpage up, setting borders and background, allowing better contrast within the webpage. Throughout this four lessons, I have indeed learnt quite a bit, especially the last two lessons, where we had the two challenges that allowed us to really try out what we have just learnt and see how much information we have absorbed. Well, this being my last post, I would like to end off a thank you to my IS teacher for being very helpful throughout all the lessons and giving us the opportunity to learn all we did!
I study in Hwa Chong Institution and this is my IS blog. I'm actually quite an open person and don't mind speaking up.
Programming, creating flash animations, reading about Roman History and Greek Mythology, playing games(everyone does), going to church and RAZER!!!
Smug and childish behavior, products that have no international warranty(lol) and when I'm broke.
