Lesson 3
Today's topic was "Introduction to HTML and Worksheet HTML". Basically, what we learnt to day was about HTML, which stands for HyperText Markup Language. during this lesson, we got to learn about the backbone behind a website. We also learnt about how to build web pages using HTML. After spending some time going through the slides and videos, we were all equiped with the basic knowledge in building our very first web page.
Our teacher then proceeded to give out a worksheet for all of us to do. In it were some questions about HTML, for example "What does the tag <hr> do?" and many others. Well what "<hr>" actually stands for is horizontal rule, like this:
Towards the end of the worksheet, there were also 2 websites for us to view, which later we had to pen down our opinions and views of what we learnt and which website we preferred.
Aside from writing, as this subject is called "Infocomm Studies", we also had another challenge to complete. Our teacher gave us a file containing some text and an image. What we had to do was to use HTML and CSS to convert the plain text we were given into the model one he showed us. Simply said, we had to put in some HTML tags where necessary and also add in the image. For example we had to make some text
Bold,
Italic and many other things like that. We also had to give the image a border and make it such as when we put our mouse over it it will display a certain description text about it.
Unlike the previous lessons, for this activity we had to work in pairs. I think the main reason we were told to work in pairs as for this particular assignment, I feel it is more and harder then the previous ones, so we need 2 people to share the workload. After completing all this, I also learnt something that was not required for completing all the task while I was creating this post. I learnt how to put in this two brackets without letting the computer read whats in between them: <>. Be cause if I just put the original form like this "<p>", it will show what it does, and not the thing itself!

Lesson 2
During this week's lesson, our teacher told us about three topics: "Intellectual Property - is copy right?", "Social impact of new media" and "Decide blog or website?" Well, for index number 1-11, they had to post their opinions about the first topic, index number 12-22 about topic 2 and index 23-33 about topic 3 respectively.
Since I was index 30, I had to do about "Decide blog or website" which, in short, if a website or a blog is better. I went ahead and followed my teacher's instructions - to view a video he recomended to us about this topic. The video elaborated on the pros and con of both the blog and website and I came to this conclusion. If someone is a beginner or just wants to set things up faster, choose the blog. If someone has more time and has knowledge about javascript and CSS and wants to be able to edit large pieces of information around in his website, choose the website.
Besides having to do on our topic, we were required to also view another opinion made by our classmate on our topic and another topic. What I did was that I went to view about the second topic, "Social impact of our new media". I read one of my friend's post and also view the video that was recomended for that topic and realised that technology is rapidly growing and nothing is going to stop it, so we have to keep up. I also commented on one of my friend's post and agreed about what he said about making our lives much easier with the advance of technology.

Lesson 1
Today, we learnt about The Internet & World Wide Web(WWW). Firstly, I learnt that the internet started because a couple of scientist at different locations needed to share information with each other if part of the network was disabled. At that time, it was called ARPANET.
The main thing about Internet is how fast it managed to to grow. When it first started at 1969, it only had four host nodes. 15 years later, it had more than 1000 host nodes and todat, there are more than 200 million host nodes.
WWW. Basically, the WWW is a worldwide collection of electronic documents, which is also called the web. It contains almost everything! From text informations to videos, from pictures to all kinds of other things you can think of.
To use WWW, you need a web browser. Some web browsers are Microsoft Internet Explorer, Safari, Mozilla and Opera! There is also this thing called Web 2.0. The difference between Web 2.0 and Web 1.0 is that when you use Web 2.0, the person who owns a website and the people who are viewing it can post comments and other items, unlike Web 1.0!
I study in Hwa Chong Institution and this is my IS blog. I'm actually quite an open person and don't mind speaking up.
Programming, creating flash animations, reading about Roman History and Greek Mythology, playing games(everyone does), going to church and RAZER!!!
Smug and childish behavior, products that have no international warranty(lol) and when I'm broke.
